The Daughters of Mary and Joseph (English Region) honour the courage of all victims and survivors who come forward. We commit ourselves - individually and collectively - to creating a community where harm is neither ignored nor repeated, where truth is spoken, and where healing is possible.
Any form of abuse, whether in childhood or adulthood, can have a severe and lifelong impact upon victims and survivors and the Daughters of Mary and Joseph affirm that anyone who has experienced abuse - whether in childhood or adulthood - has the right to be heard, believed, supported, and treated with dignity. We understand how difficult it may be to make a disclosure about harm or abuse. We commit to creating an environment where disclosures are met with compassion, professionalism, and timely action.
It is never too late to report harm or abuse that you have experienced, but no one should pressure you or force you to disclose anything you don’t want to. It can take time to feel ready to talk about your experiences, and only you will know when the time is right. If you do feel ready to make contact, we will be here to listen and support you.
